Protein

Children ages 2-8 years old are recommended to have 13-19 grams per day, depending on age. Sources of protein for little ones include dairy, eggs, nut butters, nuts (depending on age) and meat. If those are lacking in your child’s diet, you may want to consider other ways of incorporating protein. Every cup of Kabrita Junior Nutrition includes 6 grams of easy-to-digest A2 goat milk protein and can be easily incorporated as a glass of milk or blended into a smoothie.

Calcium

Calcium is an important mineral for bone development and strength but also contributes to proper tooth growth, as well as nerve and muscle functioning. Calcium is a key nutrient in cow milk and for children avoiding cow milk, finding the best milk alternative can be tricky.

Children ages 2-8 years old should consumer 700-1000mg of calcium per day. Aside from dairy products, food sources of calcium include salmon, almonds, and green leafy vegetables, such as kale, however achieving the recommended amount for your preschooler may still be difficult. Kabrita Junior Nutrition contains over 200 mg of calcium per cup, significantly boosting calcium for the day.

Vitamin D

Vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin that is made by the body when sunlight hits the skin. It promotes calcium absorption and thus contributes to healthy bones. Adequate vitamin D is also important for normal immune system function.

The use of sunscreen and protective clothing is important for children to reduce the harmful effects of the sun however it also reduces the amount of Vitamin D that can be made by the body. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends children over 1 year consume 15 mcg (600 IU) of vitamin D. With almost 4 mcg in every cup of Kabrita Junior, your little one will be well on their way with this sunshine vitamin.

Probiotics

Probiotics are the good bacteria in the gut that help keep the digestive and immune system in check. While there is no set recommendation for probiotics, they can be found in foods such as yogurt, kefir, tempeh (fermented soy), and other fermented foods like sauerkraut. Kabrita’s line of products are already gentle on the digestive system due to the goat milk protein, and Kabrita Junior Nutrition contains added probiotic B. animalis which may support a healthy gut even more.

With all these nutrients, plus added vitamins C, D and E, Kabrita Junior Nutrition may be an ideal option for your picky preschooler. Add a glass to their breakfast or snack, blend into a smoothie, or check out some of our favorite recipes using Kabrita Junior!
