How to prepare KABRITA Goat Milk Formula

While the amount of formula you feed your baby will vary based on age, preparation instructions and mixing ratios do not change. In fact it’s important to follow the label instructions to ensure you meet your child’s nutritional requirements. Read on for how to mix your child’s ideal serving size.

mixing instructions1. Start with water

Whatever amount of formula you want to prepare, begin by pouring the desired amount of warm water into a clean bottle or sippy cup. It’s important to add water first – when powder is added first, the water measurement on the bottle will no longer be accurate.

2. Add formula

Using the enclosed scoop, add the same number of scoops of power as you did oz of water. So, for a 4 oz bottle, add 4 unpacked scoops; for an 8 oz bottle, add 8 unpacked scoops.

3. Mix it up

Cap the bottle or sippy cup and shake vigorously.

If you aren’t going to be using the mixed formula immediately, ensure it’s sealed and refrigerated, and use within 24 hours. Formula left in the bottle after a feed should be discarded. As with all food preparation, it’s essential that your hands be washed thoroughly with soap and water before you begin preparation.

    1. Hi Andrea, thank you for your interest in KABRITA!

Certainly, you are able to use room temperature water to prepare the formula. Be sure to add the water first and shake vigorously so the powder completely dissolves.

If you have any other questions about the formula, please let us know. You are welcome to email us directly at customercare@kabrita.ca.

      Have a great day!

  1. How long is a bottle good at room temperature? Say I mix up a bottle and my child falls asleep while I’m doing so, and we are not home. How long will it stay good at room temperature?

  2. How many calories per ounce are in the formula?

Can I use slightly less water to make it a higher calorie count?

Such as… for 55 ML 2 scoops of powder will give me 22 calories per ounce… vs… the 2 scoops per 60mls is typically 19-20 calories per ounce for milk based formulas.

    1. Hi Dawn, thank you for your question. There are 19 kcals (kilocalories) per 1 ounce of PREPARED Kabrita Toddler Formula.

  3. Why is warm water recommended in the mixing instructions? Will using room temperature water make the formula not dissolve well?

    1. Hi Dahlia, the warm water is a suggestion for the formula to dissolve easily. You are welcome to try room temperature water too. Have a great day!

    1. Hi Christina, it is not unusual for the scoop to be at the bottom of the tin, it is a small green scoop.
Use a clean sterile spoon to check for it at the bottom of the can. If it’s not in the tin we are able to send you one. Please provide us with your mailing address and the lot code stamped on the bottom of the tin. You can email us at customercare@kabrita.ca.
Each scoop of formula contains 4.8 grams of formula.
Feel free to reach us at customercare@kabrita.ca if you need further assistance.
      Have a great day!

  4. If I mix a bottle and my child decides he’s not hungry anymore can I put it in the refrigerator until he’s ready to eat? How long would it be good for. And how can you warm after its been in the refrigerator?

    1. Hi Sandy, if the formula hasn’t been used, it can be stored for up to 24 hours and reheated by placing it in a bottle warmer or a container of warm water for no more than 15 minutes. Formula that is partially-consumed can be refrigerated for up to one hour and can be reheated once. We do not recommend reheating it more than once.

Please do not use the microwave to reheat formula and always check temperature before feeding it to your child.

Thanks and if you have any further questions, please let us know! You can also reach us via email at hello@kabrita.ca

  7. Hello,

I understand the mixing instructions. But can I add Kabrita toddler formula to my daughters milk (Lactaid milk). To fortify it?
    If so how much?

    1. Hi Yuliana, thank you for your question.
Each child’s nutritional requirements are unique. We encourage you to share the formula’s nutritional profile with your healthcare provider to receive some guidance on how much Kabrita you could add to your Lactaid milk if you wish to add more nutrition to it. You can find the formula’s nutrition information here: http://www.kabritausa.com/resources/nutrition-information/.

  8. Hi I have a 5 month old and I ordered the stage 1 kabrita, from a certified seller is this accurate? Do you all make different stages? If so why don’t you sell it from your website?

    1. Hi Kendra! Currently, we only have Kabrita Goat Milk Toddler Formula is available in the United States. The FDA has requirements that a company must complete before they may market their formula as an infant product. Although our toddler formula meets the FDA nutrient requirements for infant formula, we do not recommend it as the only source of nutrition for either infants or toddlers. We are working on bringing Kabrita Goat Milk Infant Formula to the US. We don’t have a confirmed date but hope to offer Infant Formula to parents in early 2019. If you sign up for our community, we’ll let you know as soon as we start to sell the Infant formula in the USA: https://www.kabritausa.com/account/

You may be able to buy European version of the infant formula through third-party websites, but we are not affiliated with any of them. We don’t control their processes or prices! We hope this helps answer you questions!

  9. I have 2 questions
What kind of water do I need to use. We have city and we don’t drink that. So does it need to be spring or alkaline?
Can you mix this with breast milk or not. I am not producing enough and my baby is 10 months old. This is going to be the first formula she has had so how do I introduce this. She still breast feeds at night so this will be used during the day.

    1. Hi! I hope you’re doing well! We have a great article here to help you transition your little one! You can supplement with breast milk, but do not mix the powder formula directly with your breast milk. Instead, prepare the formula with water first and then add breast milk. You can use spring water. It doesn’t need to be boiling, so you can use it at room temperature! Here is the article: https://www.kabritausa.com/blog/making-the-switch-to-goat-milk-formula/
